If it keeps me dryer I'm good with the new route. I'll see how 820 feels then decide on the other 200.
I'm with my roommate and I can speed for Chelin as well.

Okay, it sounds like most are in agreement for a more direct route.

Start time and place remain the same.

We will stop briefly at Hwy. 280 and Valleydale Road (Chilis parking lot, southeast corner) at 5:30AM to meet Tony and anybody else who doesn't want to start in Fultondale.  Rally point link:  https://goo.gl/maps/KJMTwCkazsT2

D and I will see you there at 5:30.

And then we head south. Towards the sandy protuberance.

Sounds good.

I am so ready to go...this is gonna be fun.

Is it Wednesday yet?!

I'm good with the new route.

It looks like chance of rain just about anywhere we are going.

Have you looked at Montgomery to Dothan to I-10? Does that look any better?

Yeah, it looks like the farther east we go, the lower the chance of rain.  There is still some chance with the new route, but it is much lower.  I'm not against riding in the rain, but I'd prefer not to do it for hours on end!

As of this moment, using the new route, our rain forecast percentages are below 20% for the whole route except the area from Ocala to the start of the Florida Turnpike.  In that area, it goes up to 50% for the hour that we will be passing through.  I can live with that.

But everybody should expect to get a little wet.  It is Florida, after all!

Great luck and riding conditions for y'all tomorrow!  If anyone runs into bike troubles/issues within an hour of Dothan, I am off duty, and have a small trailer with wheel chock if need be. I live 6 minutes from a moto shop, and have a slab/garage space for wrenching if needed.  Rob Yzf on Facebook.

You guys be careful and use Waze or other traffic monitoring as you get closer to the Keys. I would hate for you to get that close and be stuck in bumper to bumper traffic that eats up your time.

I hope you guys go party it up at Sloppy Joe's in Key West when you're down there. You'll deserve it. Also I hope you guys take your time coming back up and ride the eastern coast some. That's a great ride.  Have fun and take pictures especially if you go to Sloppy Joe's!

I rode down and ate breakfast with the group before they headed out.....a couple of, I'm sure, embarasing moments while getting ready to head out......I'm sure Johnny won'y mind the video being passed around, all in fun, glad you, nor the bike, was hurt.

AND ....AWAY they go, uhh.....eventually.

scrappyjon

Was seriously considering doing this trip but decided to ride the BRP at the first of May instead.  After watching the videos I wish I'd gone with em now. I know it'll be a fun ride they'll never forget. (Especially the Harley rider ;D) Yall have fun and be careful!
