Hi, Everyone!

While this isn't exactly motorcycle-related, I just want to share an invitation to any of you who are in or near Huntsville to come visit The Wall That Heals sometime between November 1 and 4.  The Wall That Heals is a 3/4 scale replica of the Vietnam Wall.  Visitors can do etchings of names, visit the education trailer featuring a full panoply of information about the Vietnam War, and visit a large display of Vietnam equipment, vehicles, aircraft and memorabilia from the Vietnam War.

I'm leading the team that will host media (reporters and journalists) and will be on-site from 8 am to 6 pm daily.  I'll be located in the communications tent, which is the first tent you'll encounter when you enter from the parking area.  Aside from Thursday, I'll generally be available to greet and escort you, should you come by to visit.  Know that you are welcome.  And, if you have family, friends or neighbors who share an interest or have been affected by the Vietnam War, please invite them to visit as well.

The Wall is located at the John Hunt Park, just off of South Memorial Parkway and Airport Rd.  You'll be able to see it from the point that you exit S. Memorial Parkway.  Admission is free.

That is very cool. Thank you for sharing and volunteering. While the memorial itself is not motorcycle related. It was escorted into town today by motorcyclists. Which is pretty dang cool.

We were at the one in Washington D.C. about 10 days ago ... It's very powerful seeing all of those names.

My role at The Wall quickly transitioned from escorting media to being an "ambassador", helping veterans, family members and other visitors either find names on the wall, make etchings, or simply navigate to their points of interest.  On the third day, after a particularly touching encounter with a Veteran, I finally had to escape to the privacy of our media tent to shed some tears and re-compose myself.  Suffice to say, I've been touched forever by sharing in the experiences of so many people, and my (pre-existing) respect for our Vietnam and other Veterans was only reinforced.

If any of you were able to make it, I thank you for visiting, and supporting this event and the Veterans it honors!

Thank you for putting so much effort in supporting vets and families of vets at the traveling wall.
This is a very emotional display. I have yet to face that demon.
