Title: Barber Vintage Festival, Oct. 9-11
Post by: springer on September 10, 2015, 09:21:41 AM
So, any movement on this? Have we found someone to pull the trailer? Got anything to donate? Who is collecting donations and where are you located?

If you have any answers to the above questions, post them up.

Since I usually have a sitter on Friday anyway, I am going to take off work and man the booth on Friday.  That's probably the only day I can make it.   :-[

Hi guys. I am planning the set up, tear down and daily management of the booth. I need volunteers for set up on Thursday, October 8, around midday. I can give you a more definite time as we get closer. This will include setting up pop ups, tables and emptying the trailer with set up of items to sell. I also need someone who can haul the trailer to and from Barber Motorsport Park. We also need the use of a generator that will be used to charge phones, run fans and a coffee maker. Ice and ice chests, pop ups and box fans are also needed. Post up what you guys can do and I'll keep a running list. Thanks for all your help and input!

WE NEED DONATIONS! And the weather has been too good to clean the garage but next week after work, get out there and spend 15mins every night throwing stuff in a box. If anyone has donations, we have several pickup/drop off points all around Birmingham. Post up where you are and we will connect you with the right person.

If you are volunteering to help set up on Thursday and you do not have a Thursday pass, PM me your number and I will take care of it for the day. If you are planning to "stay"
At the BR booth give me a heads up via PM. I will be doing some cooking for the work crew and I need a head count.

Come on guys! This is the most fun you will have hanging with the BR crew all year long! We have some special things planned for the weekend. You do NOT want to miss this.

I can collect in Huntsville, Scottsboro or Paint Rock Valley. PM me for the addresses.

The Mods are picking up the torch this year for this event. We need help. The more volunteers we have the less chance the Mods will burn out. We don't need any burn out with the mods, we have a good group and I want to keep them.

The trailer is loaded and ready. The packets from Barber were mailed on 9/11 so I should get them this week.
I'm happy to see everyone stepping up to keep this going and I hope to be there some this year.

Yay it's that time of the year! Last year was my first time, and it was great, but I went with my girlfriend who wasn't really into bikes at the time, and my dad the next day. They both lost interest after a couple of hours. This time I'm doing it right. I've got a camping plot, bikes to sell, I've entered the cross country race... Pretty stoked. Going to do a bit of power line trail riding around there as well... There's some good stuff nearby.

WE NEED DONATIONS TO HELP FUND BAMARIDES.

I'm heading to Bham on Wed, Sept 30th. If you have any parts to donate to Bamarides, let me know. If you are in the N. Alabama and have parts to donate, let me know.

If you have a a bike you want to sell, you can park it at our area. If it sells, just make a small donation to the fund.

We plan to continue having a spot at Vintage Fest as long as we get the support of our members.

The trailer is in my yard. Geez it sure looks empty :(

If you have donations get in touch with one of us with a drop off point. jrobinson for N Alabama, me or Scrappyjon for B'ham area. LawnmowerRG and catang for Moody/Leeds. There are others who have offered as well.

Rodney is going to pull it for us.

More details this evening.

Ok guys. Here's some plans!

The swap meet area opens for move in at noon on Thursday. I am working the gate from 7am-noon that day. NO  cars/trucks will be allowed in the gates without proper credentials for the swap meet. Only motorcycles will be allowed on the property Friday-Sunday. Cars will park off site and be shuttled in.

If you are coming to help set up, please let me know and plan to arrive by 11:00. If you plan to drive there we need to make arrangements for you to get in the gate. Please PM me your phone number if I do not already have it. If you need credentials to get in the gate on Thursday, let me know.

If you are camping on the site Thursday night or want to stay for dinner, we will be grilling steak. BYOS and all the other fixings will be provided. Let me know if you plan to have dinner with us.

We are still in need of a generator.

Let me know if you have any more questions or concerns.

Are there any other Bama Rides based events going on in conjunction with the festival? I've managed to meet a few of you in person but haven't able to make it out to a planned ride or event yet. I know there are probably a few other lurkers on here like me that would like to put names with faces. Maybe meet at one of the local Leeds BBQ restaurants for breakfast Saturday morning?
Title: Re: Barber Vintage Festival, Oct. 9-11
Post by: LawnmowerRG on October 06, 2015, 01:28:57 PM
Well, I will be at the track all day saturday and Sunday. Probably bring breakfast from the coffee shop over.

Honestly your best bet to meet people this weekend is to come to the tent in the swap meet and hang out. Especially after dark. People will start congregating in the swap meet area and doing a little drinking, or even a lot of drinking.

There may be a ride out of there to somewhere at some point, but you will not know unless you are at the track. It will happen pretty fast if it does, and not get posted.

Thanks for the credit for helping out,  Karla.  Even though I didn't do much more than drink coffee and hold a chair down for a while.   It was great hanging out this year.   I'll definitely be back next year!

It was a most enjoyable period of time spent. Set up, tear down went smoothly, no bloodshed and the company and coffee was most enlightening. Really had fun hangin with the BR kids.
