Sorta motorcycle related, but an interesting piece of history for those that think Ducati only made motorcycles.

After WW2, most Italian companies were looking for alternatives to war production. Ducati had mostly been an electronics company prior to the war, most of their production was radios.

Their considerable engineering abilities allowed them to create some nice work, their cameras were considered to be some of the finest in the 50s.

Conference calling in the 30s.

"The Ducati Dufono is the forefather of modern conference call technologies. Launched in 1935 by the Bologna-based company (which at the time was still named "Società Scientifica Radio Brevetti Ducati"), the tiny "loudspeaker system for intercommunications" promised wonders in its first advertising brochure: "A Dufono on your desk will allow you to speak directly to all of your collaborators. Your voice will be reproduced with its natural intensity in any part of your office or company. In the same way, your collaborators will be able to communicate with you. Loudspeaker communication through the Dufono will make work faster and more efficient."
