I'm probably wrong on this, but that looks like the gravel road going through the national forest. It's a good ride and decently well maintained for a gravel road. There's several gated logging roads that you can ride if the gates are open. Most don't lead anywhere but they're fun enough. Word of warning, the rangers there are not what I would call motorcycle friendly. I rode there with my Dad last year and we were stopped twice and told that our bikes would be confiscated if we were caught on any closed trails.

Smooth gravel. Rode it a while back on the KLR. Here is a pic:

I have ridden this road a couple years ago and as the others have stated it is a well maintained gravel road.
The issue I had was that it is a highly used road to get to Coleman Lake so we saw a lot of traffic. The best sight was the hippie school bus that wouldn't allow us to pass. Ended up passing in the ditch while they looked on in disbelief! Fun road otherwise.
I ride it all the time, keeping looking, there are a lot of FS roads in there which are not traveled as much as 500.
