to be continued....
Very nicely done!!! Sounds like a true adventure from day one.
Waiting for the rest of the story....

Day 5, Finally some scenic riding. Took a pic of Pepperlady on a new Honda ADV150 scooter to put some envy on Klaviator, but can't find the sucker. The ziploc bag melting to my cooler wear pants leg cuff, inside of the not melted dry bag was dealt with, trail style. So, so far overall what do you think; vacation, adventure, or trial. I'd have to say overall at this point still trial, but this day by itself.....Finally Vacation.

Glad to see things picking up or smoothing out, mosquitoes notwithstanding
Day 6
Finally the riding we came to do.

American Basin, Cinnamon Pass backtrack for lunch in Lake City then explore some close stuff.
To be continued....
It's hard to beat the views on the Alpine Loop. Great job on the videos!
Absolutely stunning views and great video!!
Day 7 in two parts; Part 5, the morning ascent up to Engineer Pass, Part 6 the descent from Engineer Pass and our most challenging Mineral Creek Rd.

One thumbnail view starts with PepperLady down, but she only stopped in an embanked switchback and mistakenly chose her downhill side to put her foot down. There was no recovering when she realized her mistake, the ground was too far away. She actually only went down in baby doll heads after severe fatigue from all the previous riding. She really leveled up this day and the recent Gymkhana leveled up her street riding yet again. She's been riding 3 years now but it seemed to really all come together this summer for her offroad and Street riding. Thanks to a lot of ya'lls efforts and rides and events right here on Motorcycle Alabama. 8)
Two more great videos!!
A big shout out to Pepperlady!! Great riding on mineral creek rd!!!
Thanks!
That was some very techinal riding and my thighs were SPENT when we hit 550 into Ouray, but that was also the day that I really bonded with my DR200. ;D
The first half of day 8, the easy half.

I'm enjoying these videos. It's bringing back a lot of good memories.
The Alpine Loop and Mineral Creek Road are my favorites in Colorado. They aren't too difficult and the views are amazing. Riding it at a slow pace allows you to really enjoy it and take it in. I'll definitely be going back, probably around late August 2023.
Wow you plan farther out than I do. :o
Colorado is on my bucket list but I don't have any date in mind. Sometime in the next couple of years.
MotorcycleAlabama Goes Colorado? ;D
I'll probably be going to Colorado next summer, but that will be with family. Taking my daughter to visit the Air Force Academy. We may rent a SxS and do the Alpine Loop.
But I won't be able to go with my motorcycle until the following summer... hence 2023.
I rode through on my way back from California. Only time in my life I have been sweaty on a motorcycle while looking up at snow peaks. :)
Instead of the last half of Day 8 it is now part II and part III of day 8 as the file size of the second half turned out to be over the file size upload limit.
Day 8 part II Descent of Stoney pass and treacherous Timber Hill

Day 8 part III onward from Timber Hill to run Lost Creek Trail

This is it, the end of the trip. It obviously didn't go as planned, but it was done anyway and I enjoyed it. "The more the misery, the more Epic the Tale!"
Three absolutely full days of riding to get home, the first one was scenic and pleasantly warm instead of hot, then we were in the hottest zone by our trip out when dusk set in. We decide to take advantage of the cooler day and push as far as possible so hopefully the next day we'd be past the hottest zone before lunch. It all worked out, then dodged rain modifying our route to get a U-Haul in Springfield MO. From there we brought it all home.

Thank you for allowing us to ride along for this adventure!!! You and
@Pepperlady had some challenges but that's what will make it a great memory that will last a lifetime....
Awesome job by you both!!!
