Title: The Year of the mini-ADV
Post by: Nice Goat on November 08, 2016, 10:31:59 AM
Lots of neat stuff being presented at EICMA 2016 in Milan....

How about a Versys-X 300, based on the Ninja 300 engine but with more clearance and an ADV-sized 19" front wheel?

Yep, Yamaha has one as well (another thread on here).

Also, Suzuki has the 250 V-Strom (not sure if we'll get it), and BMW introduced the G310 GS:

Not quite in the same league but still an indication of the potential trend toward smaller "adventure" bikes, Ducati has the 950 Multistrada that they claim has a 470-something pound wet weight. Heavy by dual sport standards, but a veritable featherweight compared to the big 1000+ cc adventure bikes.

EDIT: Actually, I'm now reading wet weight of 500 lbs for the Multi 950, so that 470lbs must have been dry.

I'm hoping we see the CRF250L Rally ;

I was really disappointed with the standard CRF250L that I rented in Durango last year.  I'm hoping that to Rally version has some decent improvements.  At a minimum, it needs decent, adjustable suspension.  A couple more HP wouldn't hurt either.

A 450 version of the CRF or VersysX would be great...an honest to goodness dual sport (not a version of the CB-X) 8)
