Title: Dual Sport West Alabama
Post by: Jwwr on February 10, 2018, 06:51:41 PM
I trucked it down to my parent's place in Winfield Friday with hopes of getting in some riding before the rain started. Decided to go up to Hamilton. The dirt starts right outside Guin.

Stinson Road> Hardin >Pikeville>Simmons>Millican>Lonestar

The Dirt up to the VOR is really nice. I interrupted someone's lunch!

They have a nice little park by a creek.

An access point if you want to float the Buttahatchie River. It was up and muddy. It's usually pretty clear.

There are more and better dirt roads in Lamar County, so I headed toward Sulligent.

Cobbtown is just ruff enough to be fun. Still big bike friendly.

Hankins hollow>Luther Belk>Dinky Line>Pine Springs. There are other options, some the county forgets about for extended times.

Beaverton has artesian wells. This is what the old timers call "sweet water".

Don't drink out of this one it tastes like iron! Strange, there are two more right down the road and they taste great.

A little more dirt and a creek crossing.

Completing the loop back to Guin.

What a beautiful day to ride. Shame you had to do it alone. Great pics.

Pics look great ! I'm from that area. I used to work at the UPS center on the edge of Winfield heading toward Eldridge. I do like that eagle, it's my screen saver from a day trip over that way.

Fayette and Lamar Counties do have some great dirt roads. I'm wanting to explore Pickens more. I think it has potential.

I want to go all the way down the western boundary, those are about the only counties I have not done some route in, maybe jump across the Mississippi Line for the Desoto NF, got to be a lot of dirt, or at least sand and swamp down through there, no doubt you would encounter some sort of adventure along the way.
