Title: Baldwin Ghost sites
Post by: Chuck & Susan on September 25, 2016, 03:09:49 PM
Went for a ride to find some of the Baldwin County Ghost sites.  Here are a few that we hit:

Grave of Red Eagle

Ghost websites will tell you that this gravesite is haunted by the ghost of Red Eagle and if you go out late at night you'll see the spirit doing an Indian dance on his own grave.  Red Eagle led the attack on the following site.

Fort Mims:

Sure to be haunted with over 400 deaths.....

Ghost Fleet Pier:

The Ghost Fleet or Tensaw Fleet was an armada of mothballed Liberty Ships and
other Navy crafts were parked on the Tensaw after World War II. During its peak, there were 347 ships in port.

We couldn't get the bike to the actually pier as it was overgrown, but we did take a picture where we started from:

USS Alabama

Ghostly footsteps, strange voices and hatches slamming shut comprise the majority of the ghostly activity on board this retired Battleship. Haunted or not, we hope the sailors rest in peace.

We were going to make some more stops, but the rain moved in.  We will continue our search for the ghost places in Baldwin County another day.  But we did have one other ghostly encounter:  At lunch $25.00 disappeared from our bill at The Original Oyster House.....OMG it just dissappeared:

BamaRides at its best.  Even when someone can't do the posted challenge, it inspires them to get out and ride.

And then the ride report inspires us to do the same.

Good job!

(Although the Ghost-Town project is to document the sites of former towns, not haunted places ;)  It was more complete on the older site)
