Title: Gurley - Bingham mountain 7/7/18
Post by: David DoubleEX on July 06, 2018, 02:44:23 PM
What: dual sporting on the mountain.
When: 8AM 7/7/18. Done sometime after noon.
Where: Gurley Mapco at "6016 hwy 72 E, Gurley AL 35748"

Impromptu ride in the morning to have some fun on the mountain. Pace will be pretty steady as I don't like to push the limits, but riders can ride ahead and wait at the turns if they wish.
The trek up the mountain would be pretty rough on a big bike so id say its friendly for dual sport and dirt bikes.

We will be trailering bikes right up to the trail, pending permission... This means it doesnt have to be a street legal bike.

Any questions, just ask. Come have some dirty and probably muddy fun!

I downloaded at app that i am going to try out called MyTrails. I'm going to see how well it maps out our ride and how it handles loss of signal and whatnot. And how much battery it eats. I will let yall know how it goes.

I used Tracks or My Tracks on my old phone. It worked well to show where you went.  @kylepeterson  is a map master. He knows them better than anyone I've seen. I believe he can cook breakfast with some of his map apps.

We had a good time despite the klx issues. Poor thing didn't want to run right at all. We even took the carb apart in the woods to clean out the pilot jet. It still wasn't doing so good but we managed to limp it back to the truck.

Tom! Glad you joined us! It was good meeting you.

We have various street and off road rides around here. Keep an eye open for when we have something going on.
Also, if you want to ride sometime, just make a thread and ask if anyone else wants to go. That's how Saturday's ride happened.

Hope to ride with you soon!

Thanks for the info! I will have to check it out.

The app i used didnt work. Because i set my phone to battery saver which prevented it fron working. Then I turned off battery saver and my battery was dying too quick. But a big part of that is my stupid phone so I'm not sure how the app was.

Anyway, you missed some fun. You probably could have helped try to get Griff's kawasaki to run right ;) it was pitching a fit.

It was a great fun day. I bent a clutch lever then at the very end of the day my chain came off and locked the rear wheel. Its all good now. Thanks to John and Sam for helping me load it up. Plus a Big thank you to David for setting this quick trip up :)
