Maybe a fuel-injected KLX450 or KLX650 to replace it?  That would be awesome.

Wuuuut ?

Did Kawasaki catch the Suzuki virus, and start planning a new dual sport?

Holy crap!

Think of all the unused milk crates that will be homeless now!

What will all those old codgers bitch about when they have a brand new fuel injected , half faired, 39hp, 18" rear wheeled, aluminum framed, led equipped klr800 that only weighs 215 lbs ?

That's not a joke. I actually bought two new milk crates (1 gal and a 2 gal) on the internet about 9 months ago. Those things aren't cheap either.

What's with all this milk crate talk.  I thought all the cool kids started using ammo cans as panniers.

So if I keep my KLR another 50 years it will become a classic and will be worth something?

50 years? I do not know about you but in 50 years I will not have to worry about anything.

It will be a classic motorcycle and who knows? By then it might even make it to "Museum" status.  ;)

Heck, I remember when these were new;

In 1990 I went into the little motorcycle dealership in Woodlawn. The owner was closing up shop and selling everything off. He had 4 Honda CBX 6 cylinders in the shipping boxs from Honda. He never un-crated them because he said no one wanted them. He offered to sell them to me for $1000.00 per motorcycle if I bought all 4.  :o

I bought a used 1988 Kawasaki Concourse instead.  :(

Shoulda, coulda, woulda,  ::)

I say ride the heck out of that KLR...enjoy it. ;)

I'm going to keep mine in a faraday cage, I think it has post apocalyptic style.

Nope, just because it's old doesn't make it valuable....they've built, what seems like, millions of KLR's in the 31 years of production....

http://exhaustnotes.us/blog/index.php/2018/09/26/wild-conjecture-the-demise-of-kawasakis-klr650/

"Created shortly after the discovery of lead, and mostly made from the stuff, The KLR 650 has been a somewhat reliable off-road partner for generations of thrifty, vinyl-pocket-protector wearing goofballs. Easily crashed yet hard to pick up, the KLR has spawned a huge aftermarket of widgets and freeze-dried gooseberries to remedy the built-in defects that Kawasaki never had time to address during the bike's short, 437-year production run. Oval pistoned long before Honda claimed to invent it, the KLR suffered from excessive oil use, bad doohickeys, wonky thing-a-ma-bobs, and who's on first anyway?"

:D

I don't think so. I think this is Kawasaki trying to have a super cheap bike to compete with all the china dual sports flooding in.

MAYBE the new KLR(??) could be powered by their twin 650 engine...

heavier flywheel, different gearing, etc....

Man I'm not sure about that choice of a lineup. No KLR. Took the KLX and made it smaller. I had a KLX 250 and thought it was underpowered.
KLX 300 sounds good but it's offroad only.
I don't know about this.

Good news is the supply of good used low mile KLRs should last approximately 137 years.
