I am looking to buy a set of tires for my dad for Christmas. He recently picked up a DRZ and lives in Myrtle Beach, SC so lots of sand. The OEM tires are crap for off-road.

Any recommendations from you lower Alabama riders on dual sport tires that excel in the sand? He also bought an F800GS (I know, you can't hide $$) so he won't be doing too much road riding.

Currently looking at the Sedona 907 or Maxxis Desert IT for the rear.

I really like Pirelli Scorpion Rally on the front

I'd love to spend about 30 minutes riding sand dunes with these....

I don't think there is a perfect dual sport/sand tire. Those Sedona 907's look like they have a decent paddle type tread pattern. Judging by that pic, I think @TWJohn has the best setup for sand by far.
