Title: "Nowhere To Be and All Day To Get There" ride, camp, and cookout November 5-7
Post by: Al Goodwin on July 28, 2021, 09:18:08 AM
Come camp, cook, and ride with us.  We cookout Friday night, ride Saturday, then cookout Saturday night AGAIN.  Route is yet to be determined.  It's the first weekend 8n November, so I doubt it'll be HOT...LOL

Plenty of tent space, a few places for hammocks hanging in the barn....

BYOB....

Route may be southern middle Tennessee, or possibly parts of Bankhead we don't ride in our Free State ride.

More details to come as the develop.

If there's scheduling conflicts with anything else going on, please, let me know.

Maybe we could construct some kind of ramp with the left over boards, and "Dukes of Hazzard" jump that creek!  ;D
I'll put this ride on my calendar.

I still keep finding sand in my jacket pockets from my big mud bog wipeout, on the last Bankhead ride!!

I should be there! Keep us posted on what type of riding. Not sure if I'll take the V Strom 1000 or Wr426. If Tennessee, likely V Strom.

Thanks....I still haven't decided on a definite route.  I was thinking we may split into 2 groups, 1 group to ride Flint Creek trail loop if anyone wants to....and a 2nd group to ride easier route and possibly stop for a short hike to the natural bridge between Houston and Grayson.

I'll work on the route this week.

Just 2 weeks away.

Hammock campers can hang between post of the barn.

Plenty of tent space.

I plan on tent camping for this event. I will be hauling the 690 up there.
If the weather turns nasty, I'll just move inside the truck.

Will there be any Motorcycle Alabama stuff there. Like the stickers, shirts, coffee mugs, etc.?

I don't know if @Al Goodwin  has any stickers. @Nice Goat may be able to tell you how to order a t shirt. I've already forgotten how/where :(

If you want to send me a private message with your address, I can mail you some stickers  :)

There are a few links under Vendors (in the sticky thread).  Here's a link for t-shirts, sweatshirts, long-sleeves, polos, etc.

https://www.zazzle.com/mc_al_dark_t_shirt_w_white_letters-235042375475432498 (https://www.zazzle.com/mc_al_dark_t_shirt_w_white_letters-235042375475432498)

Zazzle is always offering 25-30% off.  Just use the promo code.

I'm hoping to make the ride, but regardless, I'll make sure Allen has some stickers.

I have some new moto camping gear to try out. Haven't tent camped in many years so one night might be just the test. I also haven't been to Flint Creek in years so that might just work too! I haven't ridden the 300 since our last DS ride in Bankhead.

Thanks for the zazzle link. I see they do have some stuff on there. I'll see what's available this weekend before I order thru them.

I spent most of yesterday over at the IMS show outside of Atlanta. There was not a huge turnout, I guess because of the weather. That made it perfect for the Demo rides because there was very little waiting in lines. Test rode that Zero SR/S sport bike, which is rated at 110hp (82kW). That was impressive. Just twist the throttle and go!

Weather will be turning cooler this week.  We have firewood for Friday and Saturday night campers to huddle around a fire.

OH....and the pool is still open and running, if anybody feels like a COLD swim....LOL

I'm still working on the route...

Since we're close to Halloween, we'll stop by a couple of old cemeteries out in the forest...and Pine Torch church.

If anyone wants to ride the Flint Creek trail, we can split up near there, and then all meet at Chef Troy's for lunch.

Will the old cemetery ride be Saturday night!!!!!! Should I bring some wooden stakes, or silver bullets......

That's a good idea ....I know just the cemetery we'll ride to, not this weekend, but we'll do it soon.

Deer Head Cove cemetery, near Rising Fawn, Ga...on Puddin Ridge Road.

Any idea on our group sizes for the two rides? I am STILL trying to decide between the WR for Flint Creek or the DL1000 for gravel roads.

Temps are going to be chilly so if I go to flint creek.. I might trailer it there.

What are people bringing for food? I plan to stop by Walmart of publix tomorrow and pick up just typical food for our campouts. A few things to throw on the grill and the normal fixins(chips, baked beans, potato salad, etc)

We'll have bacon, jam, and biscuits of Saturday morning...also Sunday for those that stay Saturday night.

For Friday and Saturday nights we'll have some brats, and dogs.... Dollar General/Walmart is just a short drive away if we're missing something.

I'm coming from Oxford. I plan to be there before it gets dark on Friday.
I still need to climb up in the attic and find my "Longjohns"! My sleeping bag is only rated for 50deg..Its going to be a cold Saturday morning.

Is there a street sign on highway 31,  for county road 1286?   My phone does not have a GPS function.

That appears to be some kind of trucking company on the corner. That's easy enough to see for the turn off.

I missed the ride unfortunately.  I had trouble getting started yesterday morning, and then I had trouble starting the DR.  It seems to not like the cold any more than I do.  Once I got it started, I realized that the tires needed air, so I had to wait for the compressor to charge.  By the time I got to Al's place, the group had already left.  I took off in their last known direction but didn't catch up.  I made the best of it by going for the theme tag and then catching them at Chef Troy's.  I was amazed at the turnout for this ride!

I was actually late for lunch, arriving as they were finishing lunch.  Big thanks to Brad for handing me two slices of pizza as soon as I sat down!
