 Hi, Everyone!

Come and join us for a very special event at the Blue Plate Cafe II at the corner of S. Memorial Parkway and Byrd Spring Road in Huntsville at 8 am on March 16th!  We're going to have three guest speakers from the 2018 Motorcycle Cannonball!

Many of you have had the privilege of meeting and interacting with three-time Motorcycle Cannonball participant, and Huntsville resident Erik Bahl.

Following his participation in the 2016 Cannonball, Erik brought his 1915 Harley-Davidson, "Lucille" to the Blue Plate and shared with us his story of preparing for, and participating in, this extraordinarily challenging, one-of-a-kind biennial event.  The Blue Plate's banquet room was packed, and Erik awed every guest with his experiences.

This year, Erik is facilitating another exciting presentation for us:  He'll be bringing his 2018 Cannonball assistant, Zeke Smith, to the Blue Plate on March 16th to tell us the story of his participation as Erik's support member.

Zeke's story begins well before the actual event, and will include anecdotes about making it possible for Erik, who was just beginning his recovery from a recently-severed achilles tendon and subsequent surgery, to getting from Huntsville to Portland, Maine; helping prepare Lucille for each day's journey, and all the myriad tasks of supporting Erik throughout the 3,400 miles across the country, before driving the team's Ford Transit and Lucille all the way back from Portland, Oregon to Huntsville once the Cannonball was completed.

In addition, Erik shared that another of his fellow Cannonball participants, Doug Jones, rider of 1914 Indian #96 will join us at breakfast as well!  Doug's is bound to be another interesting story!  Below is a photo I captured of him rebuilding his Indian at Sturgis, in preparation to complete the second half of the 2018 Cannonball.
