Iron Horse has been sold and now has new owners.  I don't know how this will affect prices or service there.  Not much information yet but here is a link with a little bit of info: https://advrider.com/f/threads/ironhorse-mc-lodge-sold.1378183/

Having camped there several times, I sure hope the new owners are as nice and courteous as the past owners were. The Iron Horse was absolutely first class in my opinion.

This weekend I received an e-mail from Iron Horse Lodge:

Welcome to the 2019 Season at Iron Horse!
COME RIDE WITH US!
Kick Start the Spring Motorcycle Season in the Great Smoky Mountains

Spring is stirring early in the mountains, so pack your saddlebags and head to the Smokies!  Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge officially opened the doors for this 16th season on April 1st.  The friendly faces you've come to know from the front office team, housekeeping, groundskeepers and long-time camp workers are all hard at work to make your stay as enjoyable as ever.  Of course Ferdie is happily greeting guests and napping wherever and whenever it suits him!

Some things you may notice on your next visit are the landscaping and flowers, a new covered bike shed, 24-hr accessible ice and soda machines, and a wider entrance to better accommodate RV entry.  The creek-side cabins got a beautiful new rock foundation and interior enhancements while the Lodge's loft was fitted with more gaming and pool tables with custom made tops to multi-task for group meetings. The renovated loft can easily be arranged to accommodate groups up to 80 people for meetings.  New multi-bedroom, fully-appointed log cabins are also in construction to accommodate more guests wanting to stay together.  These are just some of the exciting, new things happening at Iron Horse in the tradition of annual updates and improvements to better serve our guests.

Of course, the lodge remains the gathering hub of Iron Horse where guests meet for morning coffee, plan rides, enjoy homemade meals twice a day, watch a game or movie and circle around the nightly campfires to share riding stories.  Two computers with new high-speed WIFI are available to guests wanting to check emails, research and create rides or use the internet.  Outside, the rockers continue to line the creek-side deck to relax to the sounds of nature while the front porch benches serve for welcoming, people-watching, and to provide a hand to someone wrenching on their bike.  Iron Horse is the ultimate sanctuary for the two-wheeled community where folks come to ride, have a good time, laugh, and simply relax.

OK, let's hear it!

On Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, around 8:30PM, by the fire pit at Iron Horse Lodge, Shane found himself the proud new owner of a Stage 5 Clinger.

She was not a motorcycle rider, and she was about 20 years older than him.  She had arrived in a purple PT Cruiser or Cube, or something similar.  She was definitely trying to hook up with Shane, but she was giving a Lot Lizard vibe, not a Cougar vibe, so he politely demurred.  He was smart enough to wait until she went to the restroom and then he took off for the cabin while she was away.  He didn't want her seeing which cabin he went to.  :D
