I'll be riding out to Long Beach California in June this year. I plan to leave N. Alabama on June 17th and return on July 4th. I hope to ride some of the western half of Route 66, visit some of the National Parks, and ride some of the PCH. I will arrive in Long Beach on the 21st for meetings and resume travels on the 26th.

I'm open to suggestions for places to see along the way.

If anyone wants to ride along for some of the trip, let me know.

I'm in 100% !!!! Looking forward to it!! Sounds like another awesome adventure as a wingman.

If anyone has recommendations for me on a local motel maybe in the Pasadena area or rides in the hills, I'll have 5 days to fill while Johnny is in meetings. @klaviator I hope you might know the area.

I don't think I have ever been to Pasadena but I have ridden some of the roads in the area.  Just research motels online but my guess is you will find better deals as you get farther away from LA.

There are some great roads to ride in the area.  The Angeles Crest HWY (2) is right by Pasadena as are several other roads such as 39 and the Angeles Forest HWY.  18 and 38 to Big Bear Lake are a great ride.

If it was me I'd consider not staying in Pasadena the whole time but taking a road trip up to the Sierras or maybe up the coast although I don't think HWY 1 is open all the way between Morro Bay and Monterrey.

Thanks @klaviator those are a few of the roads that looked interesting when I was looking at them on the map. I'll probably save Hwy 1 for after Johnny's meetings. I think he is planning to cover parts of it.

I appreciate your input.

If you are riding RT66 thru Arizona, specifically Kingman, I think a great place to detour and visit would be Chloride AZ.
Since you are the "Mural Guy", Chloride has an awesome Mural that was painted in 1966 by an artist named Roy Purcell. It was repainted in 2006 for his 70th birthday. I first saw it in 2010 while living in Kingman.
Its painted an the side of some very large boulders, several hundred yards outside of the town. When I left in 2013 you could still drive a car down the access road, so hopefully its still in good shape.
It would be about a 65 mile round trip from Kingman/Rt66 for you.
You can research Chloride and Mr. Purcell on the web. I do have pictures but I cant post to this site as I do not belong to any photo sharing sites (except ADVrider).

There is also the "Giganticus Headicus" on Rt66 just east of Kingman. You have to stop and get a picture there. Its like the largest Tiki head in the US.
Wish I had the time to tag along with you.

Thanks, I'll add them to my list.
