Title: A driverless motorcycle?
Post by: Gam on April 05, 2016, 06:16:38 PM
I was reading today where a silicon valley think tank says that autonomous cars will be the thing in the next decade and there will be no traffic fatalities. So that got me to thinking about motorcycles, and I found some stuff on a google autonomous motorcycle and they were applying to california for road testing, but that was back in 2014. It would be nice if the car with a texting teenager turning left in front of you couldn't enter the intersection as you approached, but I don't think a motorcycle where I didn't control the throttle and brakes would be worth riding. Maybe something on the motorcycle that sends out some sort of signal where the car absolutely cannot ignore you would be good, No doubt motorcycles would be far more popular than they are today, no more smacking cars, it would be like rock climbing with an anti-gravity belt.

For many people, the "job" of a car is to get you somewhere so autonomous vehicles may serve that purpose.

But motorcycles are about the experience and the journey.

Okay, it's a very broad generalization with many exceptions, but still valid.
