Due to recent events at my place of work, I will be unable to host this event on the scheduled weekend. I was informed last Friday that I have a job promotion at work that will conflict with this event. I'm terribly sorry for the late cancellation, but I guess it is what it is. I will look at my upcoming schedule and make a decision on rescheduling, or making it something else altogether.
This will be our 6th year hosting this fall event.
When: tentatively scheduled for October 19-21
Where: 377 county road 1286, Vinemont, Al.
What:....well, we'll ride somewhere on Saturday. We can cookout Friday and Saturday nights, bring whatever y'all want on the grill.
Breakfast will be on the house Saturday morning.
So, come Friday and camping, plenty of room, or ride in Saturday morning for the ride.
We've ridden 4 different routes in 5 years, always looking for something new. Suggestions please.
How does that date work for everyone?
Plenty of camping room.
On Saturday night we'll put up the big movie screen and watch one of the greatest movies ever made, "Little Fauss and Big Halsey"....a classic.
The swimming pool may still be open for business, depends on the weather.
Also.....Sam Adams Oktoberfest beer a plenty on Saturday night after the ride.
Doh! We already have tickets to Navy homecoming game in Annapolis that weekend.
If the dates happen to change, I'll plan to be there.
Those dates tentatively work for me! Not filling out the permission paperwork until they are set in stone!
with freaking bells on!
Will this be a >70 mph ride? Dirt and gravel or pavement? I don't know the area.

Nah.
Should be similar to what you have experienced at the last two rides.
The fall riding season is shaping up to be another good one.

We've ridden several different routes on this ride, it will, more than likely, be similar to the Bankhead route, minus the river trails.....
Between now and then I'll be trying to find some new stuff in our area, it's becoming more and more difficult.
I mean you can hit >70 mph on any of these dual sport rides if you want!! :-\
Is heading south into Talladega or that area out of the question/ too far?

Southern Middle Tennessee is closer than Talledega, I'm pretty sure. I can put a good 50 or so mile ride together around here before lunch, but after that...it gets pretty slim.picking.
I'm putting those dates on the calendar now. I'm flexible this far out.
;D

I will make sure to label the ride up SL +revlimiter!
I'm scheduled to work that Friday night but should be able to make it there Sat. morning.
Ill make it this time, assuming my exhaust header stays on!

I'm planning to have and use proper DS tires this time. that will make the creek crossings a LOT more fun!
fall season is gonna be sweet!!!
Hope to make it this year.
Reckon we'd have enough interest in a street ride? ....
We'd need someone to volunteer to lead the ride, we can work together on a route.
Everything the same, camp out, breakfast, etc....leave out the same time on Saturday morning....maybe even meet up for lunch with both groups...
What's everyone's thoughts?
Al, your suggestion of a street ride sweetens the pot even more! ;D
I've added your event to our NAVMC Events Calendar, but I'll go back and update it to include the probability of some street riding.
Not sure I'm in a position to volunteer to lead a street ride this far out, but I'll keep contact with you in hopes that my schedule permits me to take on the street ride event for this year!
Really look forward to seeing and joining all of you this year!

Sounds great.....thanks.
Hoping to make this ride.
I need to decide whether my money needs to be spent on appropriate tires or camping gear...would Michelin Anakee III tires be suitable for the dirt route?

I've never ridden those tires, but the route won't be to difficult...an aired down street tire would probably work...it wouldn't be any fun, but it'd work...LOL

He says this and then
@kylepeterson shows up on a Sumo and doesn't stop smiling the entire ride!
Well now my brother-in-law is getting married that weekend so I can't go anymore :-[ He was going to get married next Spring but moved it sooner.

(I'm replying in order to pull this thread back up to the top) :-\
Al, I'm planning to come down Friday afternoon, and hit the PAVED roads on Saturday. Have you had anyone else indicate they're coming, and intend to ride the roads?
I don't know the backroads down there at all, but even the main roads are scenic and fun. Maybe we can coordinate to join up for lunch at Chef Troy's (did I get the name right)???

Kyle never stops smiling! I think he may be a bit simple.

Bittersweet, Al! Bitter 'cause I was really looking forward to the gathering this year, but sweet 'cause you got a promotion...CONGRATULATIONS! ;D
Look forward to seeing you (and Melony) again in the nearest future! My wife and I really enjoyed the visit last year!
Congrats on the promotion Al!
Sometimes life gets in the way of riding :(
Weather forecast isn't looking that great for Saturday anyway.
Thanks Win.....
I hope it rains from Friday noon till Monday noon....
