Title: 2016 Barbers Vintage Festival - Oct. 7-9
Post by: springer on March 28, 2016, 06:48:29 AM
Just a friendly reminder that Bamarides will have a booth at Vintage Fest again this year. If you have any takes offs from your bike do to up grades and would like to donate the parts to Bamarides please contact a moderator. We also will take any motorcycle gear like jackets, pants, boots, helmets, and gloves.
Basically, if it is motorcycle related and you do not want it, we will take it to sell at Barbers.

The money raised is spent on the site. Bamarides events like Gymkhana or anything else the membership decides is fair game for the funds raised. ?

Okay guys, time is fast approaching and I know several folks with new bikes in their garages. Which means leftover parts and gear taking up needed space. If you have any donations to make for the BamaRides swap meet booth, contact me or any moderator for pick up or directions for delivery. I'll post a request for volunteers closer to the actual date. I am going to need A LOT of help this year.

I've got some stuff laying around also. So I can either drop it off since I'm only 10 min from barbers on setup day or leave it with Mr. Blass.

Hey guys I have the trailer.
You can drop stuff at my house,
And if you want I you can drop stuff the a new shop in Leeds.
Let Clark know what it is for. I may actually move the trailer there if we have a bunch of people bringing stuff over a specific weekend or something. Call Clark is there most of the time, but occasionally has to set out to take care of stuff.

Time to start planning. I will be at Barbers by 7:00am Thursday to work the gate. I will be parked on our site. Who is available for set up at noon that day and tear down on Sunday? Also who is planning to work the booth?

I may not be able to provide groceries and meals like last year, but I will know more as we get closer. My plate is full with my daughter getting married the next weekend.

I'll be there Thursday through Sunday if I can get a lineup of sitters.  I have written Thursday and Friday off on the company calendar, at least.  I'm looking forward it.

The clock is ticking and the trailer needs filling! We need donations for the booth at Vintage. There's a holiday weekend coming up so there's an extra day to clean out your garage and still ride! Let a moderator know if you need a parts pick up or want to drop off!
Title: Re: 2016 Barbers Vintage Festival - Oct. 7-9

I've got some new parts that didn't fit my scoots to pass along along with a random assortment of take offs. I can consolidate and deliver or arrange drop off with the admins.

Also should be available to work the booth/ setup friday morning and I've got the old ST90 scooter Yamahamer  bought there last year too if a pit bike is needed for the weekend
Title: Re: 2016 Barbers Vintage Festival - Oct. 7-9
Post by: SpeedyR on August 31, 2016, 10:24:40 AM
I'll be there most of the weekend. Will be good to put a face with a name so I'll make sure to stop by and hang out for a bit..

Been around motorcycles for a long time but never have made it to the vintage festival. Looking forward to seeing what the hubbub is all about.

Just a few questions-
1) I assume most of the hotels nearby are full. any recommendations? not sure if the folks I'll be there with have hotels lined up yet.
2) pit bike vs. street bike- what's the best way to get around? I will for sure take my street bike for after festival riding, but was also thinking to take my wifes KLX140L or daughters TTR50 but they're not tagged. Perimeter road still tagged only or is it mainly wear a helmet kinda deal?
Title: Re: 2016 Barbers Vintage Festival - Oct. 7-9
Post by: Chitza on August 31, 2016, 11:12:51 AM
Speedy, will you be there as a vendor or just a visitor to the event? Not many hotels "close" to the park, so I'm sure they are booked, but worth a try. Other beat options are out Hwy 280/Inverness area or Trussville. Let me know if you have trouble or want to double check that the area is good. Pelham at Oak Mtn area is a good area, too.

Perimeter Road, all helmets all the time. No tag required.  No motorized vehicles allowed in the Fan Zone and none in the swap meet area during "open hours", usually about 9am to 5pm.

Post by: SpeedyR on August 31, 2016, 03:24:52 PM
sounds like they booked rooms at the Mariott CY in trussville. good to go there. I'll be there working so should be an interesting few days, hopefully a bit cooler than right now! I'll have my 1290 for getting in and out, and probably the 140 or 50 for scooting around the area.

thanks for the info and see you there!

Jeff

What we need for Vintage:

1. Donations of parts or gear
2. A couple more easy ups, I have two lined up currently. Mine and the Bamarides easy up.
3. Folding tables. I have the long BamaRides table and my short one.

Thanks guys!! It's almost here!

Volunteers:

Let me know what days and times you will be there and willing to work. Thursday at noon for set up, any time Fri-Sun to sit in the booth and Sunday after 1pm for tear down and pack up.

Members and volunteers:
Remember this is a FUN event. We secured these sites for you to have a place to hang out, meet other BR members and just plain have fun. Just because you're not "working" the site doesn't mean you shouldn't come by, sit, eat, drink and socialize. The management of the site pretty much takes care of itself after set up. We want to see you! If you haven't met some or any of us face to face, introduce yourself. We don't bite.

I think we can be there Thursday-Sunday.....I have an EZ-Up and a "not-so-ez-up" if y'all need more.  Also have a small, and large, generator if it's needed.

I've got a few things to donate that I'll bring down Thursday....also, if all goes well with the bike, I'll be riding in the vintage trials event.....  I hope I can leave my bike in the Bama Rides swap-meet booth....I may put a "I really don't wanna sell it" price on the bike as well..... SO, if anyone wants to overpay for a "75 Kawasaki KT250, I've got one. ;D

Thanks Karla.....we can't stay Thursday night, and I think Microwave Dave and the Nukes are playing Cullmans Oktoberfest on Friday night, so we'll go home Friday night as well, staying Saturday night is possible.

No problem, Stu! Come hang out at the booth. It's for members to have a place to hang and talk trash about motorcycles. There will plenty of stuff to sell while we socialize. Swap meet booths K 10-12.

Swap meet spot K-12?

Well the K makes sense as most of us act like kindergarten kids around bikes, but I really doubt we summon up as much sense as a 12th grader  :)

Thank so to everyone who volunteered and made this event happen. From set up to selling and gear down. We had a good crew and lots of fun hanging out. Thanks to all who donated parts. Rodney, Kris, and Wayne worked their butts off. Allen and Melony were high sellers and John was the Mash Potato Superhero! God to see everyone that showed up to socialize and make the event successful.

With out your work it would never happen. You did a great job.
Thanks to everyone else too. This year was a great year once again.
So save your old parts that way we can do it again next year, and the year after, and so on.
