This Sunday a buddy of mine and I are meeting up at the Huddle House in Sylacauga around 9am for breakfast. We then plan on riding up until we hit 281, then ride back down. Anyone interested in joinin' this little dirty ride this weekend?
@Maxim1982 Here you go! This is the ride we talked about last night 600-1 in Talladega!!
you are missing a zero. ;D
6000-1
but yea, it's a fun little ride. nothing too aggressive or crazy.
I doubt I can get away but what do you guys think about riding 6000-1 with a WR that doesn't have bark busters, skid plate etc. It also hasn't hit 600 miles - break in.

that'd be fine. the last guy I did the skyway with had an XT (sport touring bike) and street tires.
he did have a skid plate, but he almost had to have one since he didnt have shit for suspension travel.
you'd be fine on a WR.

That's a fun road with some great views.
Screenshot of Talladega Ranger District motor vehicle use map shows 600-1. Not sure where Google got 6000-1.

Awesome! Haven't done this one in a while and need to do it again soon!
Thanks for leading Rob! I had an absolute blast! I was logging our ride and captured a GPX file(attached). Thought it might help others find their way if they are so inclined.

LOL, phone in my pocket. I don't remember walking around that much...

you can also see where I was trying to find a back way to get off of and run parallel with 148, near the beginning of that road, that did not work out well, however, as the road we took led us to a large gate with a large sign that made it clear they didnt want any visitors. so we turned around and humped it down 148 to 200-1
i believe there are some parallel roads that would work... just not the one i took. i will try a different one on my next go around.

mmmmm, maps !
thanks for taking the time to post the maps and especially the gpx !
Are the roads/trails marked very well in Talladega forest if you use a forest service map or do you need a GPS?
The main ones are marked in most cases but a GPS and a map are still nice to have.
Didn't make this ride but here is some views from the section between hwy 148 & hwy 77

Been there too. Lovely place for photos.
Wish I had know about the niner niner ride. Would have loved to meet other DS riders in the area.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181001/819d9b52c2b2a44bff727775c665e298.jpg)
