I need some help planning a 4-6 day ride around Alabama.

My cousin and I have tried twice to go on epic adventure rides across the country. Both times we had problems. Both times I think I was a bit too ambitious in my planning. I was planning 400-500 mile days. I've done plenty of day rides that last that long but doing it every day for a week was just too much for my cousin and to be honest even though I could have kept pushing it was a bit rough on me too.

So this year we want to try to do another trip but we're intentionally confining ourselves to the Alabama borders this time. We want to spend a week exploring Alabama before planning our next multistate trip. Unfortunately I don't know as much as I should about our state to pick interesting things to see and places to ride.

If any of you have any suggestions I would really appreciate it. I need great, scenic roads, places to eat, landmarks of interest or anything that you might know of that would make the trip interesting. I'm also planning to do a little travel documentary for my YouTube channel and I'm hoping it will show off the state a bit. So any tips would be greatly appreciated.

There's a lot of great stuff in Alabama.  I have mainly ridden around the northern part of the state.  My preference are for twisty roads and nice scenery.  Off the top of my head I'll recommend Mt Cheaha and surrounding area, Roads around Guntersville, High Falls, Little River Canyon and surrounding roads, Jackson County for the twistiest roads in the state, and the Bankhead area.  That's just off the top of my head.  I have documented pretty much all of my rides in one ride report.  It's real long and also contains rides to surrounding states but it should give you plenty of ideas:  http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/full-throttle-touring-150-through-the-rocket-city.647784/

I would also look through the ride reports in this forum for more ideas.

Awesome! I will definitely take a look at that thread. I'm sure you have a ton of stuff in there that would be helpful. Thanks!

Like Win said, check the ride reports.

Also, I've started a thread to post the best roads of each county. It's not getting much traction, but I'll be adding to it as I can.

Looks like there are some great ideas in those links. Thanks!

I also just got a copy of Motorcycling Alabama. There should be tons of ideas there too. I've got a lot of reading to do.

Do all the regular stuff in north east Alabama, then go to north Georgia. Anywhere north Georgia. You'll have a blast.
