Nice Goat

Well, I finally got me a Goldwing today.  2004 GL1800 SE Edition with ABS.  It has the main accessories that I wanted, e.g., fog lights, luggage rack, highway pegs, and trailer hitch.  Came with a second windshield (it's massive!) for cold weather.  She's a little overcooked on chrome trim, but oh well...

Decided to go with a used one to start, just to make sure that I like it.  It has 61k miles, and I got it for KBB trade-in value.  If I don't like it, or trade up for a new one, I shouldn't lose much money.

It seems like this bike has not felt a lot of love in the last few years.  The saddlebags are hard to open, and the controls and seats are dirty.  Looks like she's been sleeping under a tarp or in a barn for a few years.  She has no idea of the polishing storm that is about to overcome her...

But the first order of business is new tires....these are a little old.

Glen we will see you tomorrow morning. But sometime on this trip give the 2016 I just got a whirl. I think it is still under 900 miles on it. Welcome to see how it feels with the trailer in tow also.
It's a beautiful day, let's go somewhere....

Nice wing!

There is no joy in removing a car tire from a motorcycle rim. New curse words will be learned.  :-X

The guy who sold me the bike had no idea that there was a trailer hitch under there.  Lucky for me!

I normally don't use ArmorAll on motorcycles, but...

Step 2 - Clean with Mothers and moisturize with ArmorAll

Fixed the left saddlebag cable.  The right cable has a broken clip that I'll have to order.

Went ahead and removed the highway pegs.  I scraped them twice on the way home and didn't even think I was leaning that hard.

Gotta pack for Tellico now...

Definitely want to do this with my KTM ... sooner rather than later, but I have to replenish the play fund first.

Thanks, Mark.  Hopefully I can get Kevin all lubed up with Yuengling someday and change the tires at his house on his fancy machine...

That bike must have come from a Straight Line Rider in Florida. That's worst flat spot I've ever seen.

Found the part that I needed (door rod connector) at Autozone, so now all three saddlebag latches are working properly again.

Removed the front wheel to check the bearings, clean and regrease the axle, etc.  Brake pads have a little life left, but not much.  Ordered new pads -- two sets of EBC # FA261HH.

Shoes arrived Saturday ... going to get them changed out later this week.

What GPS is that??

Looks like the one I use.  Are there mounts for it as well?  Will you be using it?
