Since everyone else on Bamarides seems to be doing an Alaska ride report, here's mine.

It was June of 2001 and I was flying Navy C-130s.  We launched out of Atsugi, Japan and flew into Elemendorf AFB in Anchorage.  Because of the time of year and northern Latitude it never got dark and was light when we landed at 0330 in the morning.  We went to our motel in town and slept a few hours.  Then we got up, walked a couple of blocks to the Harley rental place.  I rented a Heritage Softail classic and the other pilot rented something similar.  We rode out to Portage Glacier and back, turned in our bikes and slept for a few hours before flying out at around 11:30 PM.  It never got dark the night as we flew really far north on our way back to Maine.

So I have checked "ride Alaska" off of my to do list.  I don't see what the big deal is  It was a pretty easy ride

OK, maybe it was cheating.  I even got paid to go to Alaska.

I did take a few pics:

Are you kidding?  Every ride I get invited to could be an Alaska report.

Friend:  Hey Guidedawg, think your wife will let you ride with us?
Me: I dunno.  Alaska when she's in a good mood.

I'll be here all week; don't forget to tip your servers.
