We'll keep everybody together... waiting at turns and such.  Also, it's not going to be a high-speed ride.  We're going to enjoy the scenery, help people through the creek crossings (if they need it), and generally have a relaxing day.

In case I confused anybody by talking about the other campground, let me clear it up...

  • We are camping at Meriwether Lewis campground on the Natchez Trace.  I will try to get close to the bathhouse at {35.524817, -87.455400}.
  • The ride will start from the campground at 9:00am.  The late start is to accommodate people who may not be able to camp Friday night.
  • The first gas station will be Plowboys, which is 34 miles from the campground.   Route: https://goo.gl/maps/fjfVcWJ9u3A2
  • From the gas station, it is about seven miles to the start of the Dirt Devil, where Ken will take over.  I will ride sweep to make sure that we don't lose anybody.

There are some other waypoints in the attached file, e.g., gas at {35.913617, -87.331283}.  If you have a Garmin, it should be easy to load the attached route and waypoints.

sweet! just saw your route attached, I'm deleting my link too prevent confusion!

I'm dirtbike-less at the moment, but I may meet up and ride to lunch on the Versys.

You are more than welcome to ride my DRZ.  I will happily get the little XT out for some fun....it's been neglected lately.

good Lord look at all those curves!

Check this out, road riders....and come on up.....hundreds upon hundreds of awesome road miles along the Nashville's Trace road routes.  Maps for overview on the web page and all routes have actual little brown road signs if you just want to pick a start point and wing it.  Old Tennessee, Promised Land, The Jack Trail, Screaming Eagle, Ring of Fire, Tennessee River....122 interesting stops.

All this talk about water, can someone confirm there is drinking water at the camp? According to a NPS site it has drinking water.
