What did I do to my bike today

Master cylinder went out in the kdx so rigged up something from spare parts to make a ride yesterday....

Some carb adjustments and a new front tube. Even though it didn't seem like it, I must've pinched it- flat again 30 minutes later.

Installed some struts to stop my top plate/top box mount from flexing so much. If you haven't noticed metal top plates tend to break over time. Always at the last mounting holes if the are aloud to flex.

material list.
3/4-1/8th angle 3ft including the bracket I bent at the wrong angle (pic at the bottom).
1/4-5/8-1in spacer X2
spacial Detroit Diesel injector washers (I have a few if you need some. Pic at next to bottom).
6mm-45mm stainless steal socket head allen screws.

tools
drill
steep bit
screw driver
bench vice
die grinder with cutting wheel.
a couple drivers to remove and install screws
T-27
6mm allen
3mm allen
8mm wrench

Find a solid spot to brace from (yes I forgot to take a picture before I started).



aluminum angle before cutting


Then trimmed some angles to clear the plate and back of the bike.


bending my tabs to fit flat against the plate and my spacers.


Drilled some holes. If you used a step bit you can chamfer the holes at the same time.


a little shaping to clear the tail light.


filing all the edges and corners so they don't cut you.


finally bolting it on.










these washers are flat on one side and convex on the other. used because the mating surface for the spacers is concave.

Rebuilt the rear master cylinder and installed a new chain and sprockets! My counter shaft sprocket nut was finger tight with no locking washer tabs folded up! Glad I found that before failure!

Merc, does your new triple tree have the same rake angle as your OEM did?  That's an impressive (and FAST-looking!) bike!

I'm not sure on that. It's a second hand part. The fairing does seem to sit lower. The steering stem is titanium. I did install new Kawasaki bearing and race set.
