Hi, Everyone!

Saturday's breakfast binge was a high-payoff event, thanks to the great work of Fred Kroeger and Jennifer Nelson with Jennifer's presentation on Volunteering at Barber, Scott Paulson for facilitating the media portions of the event, Linda Robinson for conducting the Dan Marrs 50/50 fundraiser!  Y'all made this event spectacular!

After sharing Barber's new Public Relations video, Jennifer shared the specifics of volunteering at any of Barber's events.  She presented the three types of volunteers.  They are:

- Hospitality Staff (wide variety of positions, from ticket checkers to floor monitors)

- Floor Marshals (enhanced security assurance positions, which require additional training)

- Docents (each docent receives four days of specialized training (one day per week, for four weeks))

She then named a number of the most attractive benefits of volunteering, which include:

- Barber shirts for wear during duty

- Free museum admission, and discounted admission for volunteers' guests

- Furnished meals

- Free race tickets (two tickets per volunteer per shift)

- Invitation to Barber's annual Volunteer Appreciation Party (held each December)

Finally, she announced that this year's Barber Volunteer Certification Training will be conducted March 31, 2018 at 1 pm at Barber Museum!

Following Jennifer's presentation, Linda Robinson conducted the 50/50 drawing, and congratulations go to Frank Coseglia, winner of $230!  The drawing raised the same amount for Dan Marrs and his family, bringing the 50/50 totals to almost $500 in the past two weeks!  These totals are funds raised in addition to the gofundme donations to-date.  Thanks go out to all who have contributed to help the Marrs family!

Here are our upcoming events:

Breakfast at the Blue Plate Cafe II every Saturday at 8 am.  No motorcycle required--just a love of the sport.  So come on out, and bring friends!  Let's keep packing the house every Saturday morning!   Eric Mills brought a friend this morning, Matt Wilson.  Matt is a fellow enthusiast, and is (re)building one of his bikes as we speak!  Here's welcoming Matt to NAVMC, and looking forward to sharing future events together!

Feb 10th:  Motocross racing at Priceville!  Preliminaries begin at 1 pm and the main events commence at 7 pm.  Tom Schuman has organized a vintage motocross event as well, so Priceville is the place to be on the 10th, unless you're headed to:

South Florida's First Annual Vintage Two-Stroke Motorcycle Show at Sunsports Cycle and Watercraft, Ft Myers, FL.

Feb 11th:  AMCA's Smoky Mountain Chapter will hold its first meeting of 2018 at 1 pm at the Barber Museum, and they have invited all of us who wish to join them.  At the meeting, the Chapter will discuss its future, activities of interest, the process of transitioning in new officers, and will then enjoy the immense collection at the Barber Museum, including their new expansion.  Please see attachment for more information.

Feb 17th:  We're going to Andrew Jennings' garage for our second Garage Crawl of this year!  Most of you have seen at least one of Andrew's amazing bikes--his Triumph was our banner feature on the Facebook page for a month, a few months back.  We'll depart from the Blue Plate, and follow Andrew to his garage.

Feb 23rd - 25th:  AHRMA vintage motorcycle racing, Bloomingdale, GA

Feb 24th:  Redstone Harley-Davidson is conducting their annual Chili Chilly Ride.  Kickstands up at 10:30 am, and all proceeds from the event go to the Huntsville "Forgiven Riders" Chapter of the CMA.  https://www.cyclefish.com/motorcycle_event/44090

Feb 25th:  32nd Annual Clarksville Swap Meet, Clarksville, TN Speedway.  http://www.facebook.com/groups/clarksville.swapmeet/

Looking long range:

- March 2-3:  Indoor Flat Track Racing at CALSONIC Arena in Shelbyville, TN

- April 28th:  The Athens Car and Bike Show

- 5-6 May:  A weekend with Graham Foster, enjoying both on and off road riding in the area of Dahlonega, GA

- Memorial Day Weekend:  Please note that Mike Long's Super Garage Crawl is currently suspended.  I'll post a special edition of the newsletter if he announces that the crawl's back on after all.

Please let me know of any events I have missed, and send me stories of the vintage motorcycle activities that interest you!
