Where would go to buy a new Yamaha?

I would go to All Sport in Decatur.

I'll check with them.  Not 100% sure yet but, thinking about a 2025 MT-09 SP.  I got a firm quote, in writing, for $12K out the door, not including Alabama registration and tax. I really couldn't believe the deal so, I had the sales manager email me the firm offer.  The only problem is, it's 500 miles from home.  I'd probably be willing to give an extra 1K to stay within 100 miles.

Any thoughts on the MT-09 SP?  I'm not really familiar with that bike.  I've never ridden one.  There is a slightly used one that I can test ride but, it's also a long way from home.  There's lots of things I like about it and a couple of things I'm not so sure about.  I wonder about seat comfort and riding position for long rides. Also, even though it's a 3 cylinder, the bottom end cases are pretty wide and stick out further than I like.

12K sounds like a good deal but keep in mind that bikes are not selling right now and many dealers are willing to deal.

As for comfort that is something only you can determine.  IMO most bikes these days come with shitty seats so it may not be comfortable on a long ride but there are seat pads and aftermarket seats out there.  It has tubular handlebars so those could be changed out for taller or lower ones.  Have you sat on one?  Most dealers don't allow test rides these days but I'd want to at least sit on one for a while.

There is a forum for the FZ/MT 09: https://www.fz09.org/forums/

I did check with All Sport but, they were MSRP plus all the fees they add on so, I bought the bike from Smith's Sport Cycles for less. I did pay almost 1K more than the shop in North Carolina which I was willing to do for the convenience and to support a local dealer.  Smith's seems to be one of the few family owned motorcycle dealers left.

The seat is better than most but, for long rides, it could be improved.  I spoke to the R&D guy at Sargent and he said they keep track of inquiries for seats they don't already make.  If there is enough interest, they design a seat.
