Thursday night GP8 in the Birmingham area?
« on: April 22, 2017, 10:31:33 AM »
 I really miss the Thursday night GP8's we use to have. I am wondering, if it got started again, who would come out for it?

If this interest you, post up and tell me, would you be;

 1. A regular?
 2. I can make it most of the time?
 3. I will make it when I can?
 4. Nope, not interested, to far, to busy, got other things to do.

 If you are in the top 2 choices, tell me where in the Birmingham area works best;
 1. South of Birmingham? (Hoover area.)
 2. West of Birmingham?
 3. East of Birmingham?
 4. North of Birmingham?

  When you post, if you would, rate the area in progression from I can make that easy to that is a pretty far drive. :) 1 through 4 with 4 being the farthest drive. (Example; for me it would be 1. Western area 2. South of Birmingham 3. North of Birmingham 4. East of Birmingham. Since I live in the western area, that is closes for me.) I am willing to travel up to 30-45 minutes myself.

 Since I am on a straight day shift now, and I am willing to bring cones, this is something I want to start back up.  Since this will be a GP8 (And a few other small courses) the area does not have to be big.
 If you know a place that works, post that up too. I think the place in Hoover, where we had our first Gymkhana, might work for this.

I'd love to attend but due to my work schedule I normally can't make weeknight events.  I can't wait until I can retire ;D

I can see myself attending once or twice a month. Thursday's can be tough if I am travelling on the weekend, I like to pack and otherwise prepare on Thursday night.

East or north of Birmingham works best for me, but as long as I can get to the site with a minimum amount of 4 lane, I'll ride.

I'd be half the time. work every other Thursday night. but since I moved I'm a lot closer to the ham (calera) and it's a lot easier to get in the thick than it used to be.

I am going to leave this up for a week or so then add up the results.

So far, it looks like the south part of Birmingham.  ;)

Keep it coming.

I can do the West.  My availability depends on if school is in session and ball season

I'm traveling from Tuscaloosa so West is my #1 choice. South would be doable too. I rotate shifts so only twice a month would be possible. I really enjoyed this when we had it going before. Almost like starting my weekend early!

#3 person and #1 or 2 location. I work straight night shift so I could come by before work.

#3 on when I can be there and since I live on Lake Jordan south would be better (I know my location vote don't count since I'm a 3, just putting it out there).

I was visiting my young friend last night when I asked if I could borrow a newspaper. “This is the 21st century, old man,” he said. “We don’t waste money on newspapers. Here, you can borrow my iPad.” I can tell you, that fly never knew what hit it...

 Okay, looks like I will be looking for a location south or west of Birmingham. Kyle did a great job building this up. I can only hope to do half as well.
 I will get things ironed out in the next few weeks. As you can expect, the location will be the hardest to find. Want to find a place were we will not be ran off from so if you know someone who owns a business in those areas and has a parking lot big enough to support us and their customers or shuts down at 5:30 pm, plus would not mind us using it, post up. The only cavalier is that it needs to be in a decent part of town. There is a lot of places close to Kris Cooks place but that part of town is on the rough side. For that reason a lot of Bessemer is out. Having the police check us out is one thing, hoodlums looking to cause trouble is another.  ???
 The size of the area needed would be about 40 parking spaces, 20 places long, 2 rows would be ideal. This will be a "ride at your own risk" type of thing since anyone who lets us ride should not have to worry about a lawsuit thing.  Plus, more than likely, it will be a gorilla event. (not having permission more than likely.)

If we do a gorilla type event I checked out this parking lot yesterday and it seems pretty legit. I think the property is currently for lease so no tenants to worry about.
