 Hi, Everyone!

This week's Digest begins with a quick review of Alan Nicholson's "BBQ Ride to Somewhere", which he led on Sunday, Jan 6th.  In all, 16 motorcycles lined up at Barnes and Noble to enjoy the beautiful weather and a great meal.  (Thanks to Dale Proctor for the photos, which I can't transfer onto MC-AL because of the new flickr photo restrictions  :-[ :-[ :'()

As always, Alan had a beautiful, scenic route identified, which made the 40+ mile ride flash by in a burst of scenery.  Alan led the group to Hog Leg BBQ!

The staff was responsive, and ensured to satisfy each of the hungry riders in Alan's group.

After lunch, the group engaged in trying to identify as many vintage cars as they could from among those parked adjacent to the restaurant...

Alan has noted that, with the increasing number of riders participating in his BBQ runs, he's looking for volunteers who can lead a portion of each group, so that the riders can move in smaller packs.  He's also going to begin posting a digital map of the riding routes ahead of time, for those who would like, either to study the routes beforehand, or to upload the routes into their own GPSs before each ride.

This weeks Digest contains another info-blast of assorted bits and pieces of motorcycling news for your enjoyment.

Here's for Sportster and cafe fans:  From Harley-Davidson's 2018 Battle of the Kings Bike Builders Competition:  https://twitter.com/harleydavidson/status/1079391689830268928?s=01

If you subscribe to Cycle World magazine, these "Ask Kevin" articles are probably old news to you.  But I've never subscribed, and now I'm a fortunate benefactor of Cycle World's generosity on Twitter.  They are offering these articles for free!  (They're much easier to read if you open them using an ad blocker search engine (probably not what CW had in mind when they offered these, but I can't stand pop up ads!)

Here's one on using intake air velocity to produce supercharged compression fills in four-stroke engines:

Here's another one on the historical development of two-stroke engines:

Cycle World also published this great retrospective article on the Greatest Superbikes of the 1990s...

Scooter lovers:  Ever seen one of these before?  If not, neither has the vast majority of the population!  But I sure would like to run into one in a barn somewhere, priced way below retail!

And here's the wrap-up for today:  A stunning shovelhead chopper that conjures up reflections of Captain America in a big way...

April 25-28:  10th Annual Spring Shovelhead Retreat, at the Kickstand Lodge, Stecoah, NC.  These are the same folks I met at Shovelfest in Tellico a few months ago, and they're a great group of riders who love vintage Harleys.  Unless anything gets in my way, I'll be riding my Shovel up to Stecoah to participate.  If any of you want to join me, and want a cabin, let me know.  If you plan to do primitive camping (as I plan to), there is no concern, as primitive camping spaces are almost unlimited.

Please let me know what I've missed.

Let's ride!
