This game was popular for a minute on BR 1.0. I really enjoyed it.

You choose someone on the forum you have not ridden with, or know very little about, and go for a ride. The leader chooses the route and posts it here. The leader writes a report in the Ride Reports section telling about the ride and the person with whom they rode. That person then has the baton and plans the next ride. Make it interesting to attract the notice of someone who will want to ride with you, someone you do not know, know very little about or with whom you have never ridden. The previous rules allowed others to tag along, but the leader and the relay person are in control of the ride. I'll leave that up to the ride leader and tag along.  This should be posted in your original plan.

I will go first:

Ride will begin at a mutually convenient location and wind through NW Shelby Co and SE Jefferson Co. along the roads referred to as "The Gonzo", named for the map tracks that when viewed look like the head of Gonzo the muppet. Roads included will be Joiner Town Rd., FireTower Rd., Hwy 25 and Siccard Hollow Rd. The ride will end with a place to eat and/or have a beer. Tag alongside welcome. I am free most any weekday afternoon after 3:30pm, on school holidays and on the weekends.

Time announced when I have a taker and we decide.

I've heard tales of the gonzo but never had a chance to ride it. As long as it's not a spirited, peg-dragging sport ride I'd like to tag along when ya'll go.
I'll never be old enough to ride a sportbike responsibly...

Bwahahaha. You don't know me. You're in no danger whatsoever :)
I'll post here when we get the plans hashed out.

The Tag Grabber Ride

Well, after posting the new relay game and finding a willing victim, I mean riding partner, life got in the way and it took a few weeks to get the ride on. Greg, aka mojo1, was very patient and we missed a few opportunities before we found a few hours at the last minute on a beautiful weekday afternoon.

Greg road up on his 2006 FZ1 and I realized we had actually met a few times before but this would be a chance for me to get to know him. I dubbed this the Tag Grabber ride because this man is a beast for grabbing tags, riding from Springville to Red Bay for a tag when no one showed up for his posted ride. And he has snatched more than one tag out from under me by mere minutes.

Greg and I met at Grants Mill Rd and I-459 to run most of the Gonzo Loop. Actually we ran Picasso's cubist interpretation of the Gonzo. Grants Mill Road, Rex Lake Rd, Ziegler Rd, Elliot Lane to 25 all the way to Columbiana where we took Joiner Town Rd and FireTower Rd to Chelsea. We stopped along the way for me to grab the current photo tag. Complete with the tag owner's escort.

We stopped in Chelsea for a break and a little BamaRides PR. Met a guy on a new Ducati Monster, shared war stories and discussed fitting a bike to his vertically challenged girlfriend. A topic on which I had much to offer.

Also met a future rider who had stopped to look at every bike in the parking lot.

Ride safe, Cade!

All total about 150 miles on the day with loads of smiles on curvy roads, a patient riding partner and a photo tag grab. Thanks Greg! Hope your regular riding buddy(Lk2rd) is up and going again soon, but until then, let's hit some more roads!

The ride will begin at a convenient location and will wind up back roads from Sylacauga to Mt. Cheaha then to Jacksonville. This will be a long ride, If interested in a shorter ride I have some routes around Oak Grove area ( river roads ). Tag alongside welcome. I am free most weekends. Also the pace will be whatever you are comfortable with.

I had completely forgotten about this thread and riding game! I really would like to meet some more of the Bamarides crew! Anyone still interested in doing this game?

I can't do weekdays but would be up for a weekend ride in the dirt or on the street! The ball is technically in Mojo's court so he is still the leader. I know we have met once or twice but normally we separate as I go dirt and you street. Let me know if you are free this Saturday afternoon into evening and want to lead a ride!!
